Windows 10 laptops will be powered by a new processor to offer a better battery life

A senior Microsoft executive confirmed that the next Windows 10 powered laptops powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile chips will offer a "multi-day" battery life.

"For Netflix streaming with LTE, we're watching a replay of 28-29 hours. We are watching the computer all day with all 16, 17 or 18 hours," said Cristiano Amon from TrustedReview.com, vice president of Qualcomm Technologies at the Summit 5G late Wednesday.

The company said last year that it was working with the Qualcomm chipset to debut a series of mobile laptops. "The final numbers are not included, but the battery life is really very good," said Pete Bernard, Senior Partner Program Manager for Microsoft Connectivity Group at Trustedreviews.com.

"We have set a higher barrier for our developers, and now we are over," he added. Next Windows 10 laptops will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform, which is the same processor that powers Android smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S8, OnePlus 5 and LG V30.

Snapdragon chipsets are said to be more efficient than design and nature. These chips are smaller than a traditional handheld processor, so they offer more room for manufacturers to fit a larger battery.
