Fing bugs in Android Apps and get $1000 from Google Rewards programme

Google has launched a new rewards program for security experts where the company will pay $ 1,000 to find security holes in Android applications and then report it to Google researchers.

"The Google Play Security Rewards program recognizes the contributions of security researchers who are investing their time and efforts to help us make the applications safer on Google Play," said the technology giant on his website Thursday night. . All Google applications are included, and the most popular Android application developers are invited to join the program in partnership with HackerOne.

"Through the program, we can further enhance application security, benefiting developers, Android users, and the entire Google Play ecosystem," the company said. For the time being, scope is limited to RCE (remote code execution) and corresponding POC (test concepts) vulnerabilities that run on devices running Android 4.4 and higher. "This translates into an RCE vulnerability that allows an attacker to execute their own code on a user device without the user's knowledge or permission," Google said.

Here's how it works. The researcher locates the vulnerability within an application within the scope and follows them directly to the application development application through its current vulnerability detection or error reward process. The application developer then works with the investigator to resolve the vulnerability. Once the vulnerability is resolved, the investigator requires a further Google Play Bonus bonus.

"The program will evaluate each submission based on vulnerability criteria. A $ 1,000 reward will be assigned to issues that meet this criterion," Google said. "We can not issue awards to people in the US sanctioning lists or in countries (Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria)," he added.
